Merlinda Akindele is an actor, model, and writer born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She is now based in New York City and hopefully London. She is known most notably for understudying ‘Jada’ in the New York premiere and New York Times reviewed play Zoomers by Matt Gasda at the Brooklyn Center for Theater Research. She studied at New York University Tisch School of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts where she played ‘Lady Macbeth’ in Macbeth and ‘Prospero’ in The Tempest on the RADA stage. Merlinda recently performed on the Atlantic Stage 2 in Will Eno’s Middletown directed by Jake Beckhard as, ‘Male Tourist’, ‘Freelancer’, and ‘Female Doctor’. On May 10th and 11th, 2024 she will be ‘Amina’ in Dance Nation at the Royal Family Theater. On May 24, 2024 she will open and originate as ‘Zoe’ in Matt Gasda’s newest play Morning Journal

To Merlinda, acting is a medium for Human emotional connection. She focuses on realism and authenticity, believing that these elements can enhance the experience for both the performer and the audience.
